Due to the complicated hereditary situation for which the Catalan insurer Agrupació Mútua spends, the Headquarter of Insurances and Pension funds, organism that depends on the Spanish Department of Economy, it has decided to be done under control of the entity. This instability situation has taken place due to the participation of 70 % of Agrupació Mútua in the real estate property development company Habitat.
With this measurement what claims the Headquarter of Insurances is “to safeguard the interests of the policyholders and to guarantee the fulfillment of the contracts” that also affirms that, despite the intervention, “the insurer will be able to continue with the normal development of his business”. On the other hand, this operation involves some restriction neither in the current contracts nor in future contracts, as informs the state organism.
Last year the benefit society communicated that the losses reached 13,5 million euros. And stas numbers were considered to be worrying by the auditor BDO so that it urged to the benefit society to provisionar 60 millions for possible losses derived from his real estate investments.
The insurer was founded in 1902 in Girona and it is provided with 380.000 clients principally in Catalonia and a patrimony for 650 million euros.
