The European Investment Bank supports Spain

The government of Spain signed an interesting agreement with the European Investment Bank (BEI) to keep on improving the Spanish railroad network. The financial organism will contribute a sum of money that is about 5.000 million euros for the project financing of high railroad speed in Spanish territory, as one informed some days ago from the proper Presidency of Spain.

In an act realized in the city of Madrid, the minister of Promotion, José Blanco; the president of the European Investment Bank (BEI), Philippe Maystadt; and the president of the Manager of Railroad Infrastructures (ADIF), Antonio González, they signed an agreement to finance investments in lines of high speed to Extremadura; to Alicante and Murcia; to Burgos and Vitoria; and to Gallicia, he reported the web site of Presidency of Spain, that he added that these projects will be carried out during the year 2010 and 2015.

As regards this topic, the minister of Promotion of Spain, José Blanco, said that the European Union turns again into a principal actor for the progress of the above mentioned country, published the web site of this secretariat of the State, who added that the leader believes that the high speed plays an important roll for the progress of any country contributing, for example, to the sustainable development.

On the other hand, the person in charge of the European Investment Bank (BEI), Philippe Maystadt, expressed that the agreement will think about how, between other things, to improve the transport network in Spain, informed the web, which added that across these projects more jobs will be created.

According to the Presidency web page, this is the third agreement of similar characteristics that sign the government of Spain and the European Investment Bank. The previous ones were realized in the year 2002 and 2006 and the investment was 20.000 million euros in whole. It is important to emphasize that successful results were achieved in both occasions.
