General Motors guarantees the Figueruelas future

Nick Reilly, the new manager of General Motors Europa, he made sure this Friday that the plant of General Motors (GM) Spain located in the locality zaragozana of Figueruelas, will be “a permanent reference” to new Opel Europe and guaranteed his future “in average and long term”.

Nick Reilly, who met in Saragossa the prime minister of Aragon, Marcelino Iglesias, accompanied by the vice-president, José Ángel Biel, and by the advisers of Economy, Treasury Department and Employment, Alberto Larraz, and Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Arturo Aliaga.

In declarations later to the mass media, Reilly aimed that “although GM has to attack a significant restructuring in Europe, the plant of Saragossa will be a permanent reference to we” and added that “like the financial GM situation it has improved we are pleased of being able to support hundred for hundred of the company”.

Reilly remembered that, in the yesterday day, he visited the Spanish factory, what allowed him “to be a witness of the professionalism of the agents of the same one on having been with them on foot of chain and with the managing team, as well as with the trade unions”. “I have the certainty of which we are going to leave behind this suspense period giving a future option”, it concluded.

For his part, the adviser Larraz pointed out that this visit for Aragon “has been very important although it has had very much of institutional” and advanced that the restructuring will be “in the line” of the plan of Great, although “there will be some finishing touches that will not be to worsen it, but to improve it”.

Also he affirmed: "He has commented to us on something important, which is to put a calendar from here on to tackle the restructuring plan and to work jointly with them and with the trade unions in a project that has a lot to do with the one that agreed with Great although with some different details that will not be to worsen it, but to improve it”.

The autonomous Economy holder emphasized that “it is the first time that Reilly visits the plant in depth and her very good impression has taken”. “We are very positively impressed because for us it is good that GM has recaptured this work. We are used to speaking with them that with other companies”, it pointed out.

Also, the adviser Aliaga thought that in the visit they have been revealed “the fortitude of the plant in technological aspects, the importance of two lines of production and three models that are made”. Also he admitted that “it Has made a very positive comment regarding the workpeople and has said that they are very well prepared for the construction of the Meriva”.
